2008 TransPuget Benefit Race

 

Shilshole Bay Yacht Club, with co-sponsor Corinthian Yacht Club would like to invite you and your crew to race in this late summer classic supporting adaptive sailing aboard Adventuress with Sound Experience (http://www.soundexp.org/).

The Venue:  Puget Sound, Shilshole Bay Marina.

 

The Entrants:  At least one person on each yacht must be a member of a PIYA affiliated club.

 

The Boats:  Any PHRF rated mono or multi hulled boat 20' or greater in length.  No PHRF rating is required for the cruising class.

 

Classes: 

  • Classes for Cruising, Flying, Non-Flying, and Multi hulls (if 3 or more) will be provided for

  • 1st place for each racing class wins a free haul out

  • One cruising class finisher will be randomly selected for a free haul out. Just finish in the allotted time to be eligible

 The Date:  Saturday, September 13, 2008

 

Skippers Meeting / Breakfast:  10:00 AM – location TBD.

 

Start Times: 

  • Long (Racing) Course:  11:30 AM (long course is a 2008 Grand Prix invitation qualifier)

  • Short (Cruising) Course:  TBD

Time Limit:  8 hrs Long Course, 5 hrs Short (Cruising) Course

 

Courses:  Short (Cruising) Course: 5-15 miles

                 Long (Racing) Course: 10 to 25 miles depending on conditions

 

Entry Fee:  $25 + $1 /ft of vessel length overall, includes 2 party tickets ($30 value)

Entry Deadline:  Entries are due the Wednesday, September 10, 2008  - Registration Form

Party!  Music, dinner, & beer!

  • 4:00 PM (after the race) CYC Clubhouse at Shilshole Bay

  • Live band - "The Tropics"

  • $15 per person

TransPuget Specific Sailing Instructions:  

  • An official entry with signed release must be submitted to compete in this event.  

  • Protests must be filed within 1 hour of the committee boat docking. A $25 fee shall accompany each protest submitted.   (Returned if the protest is upheld).

  • The 720 rule will be in effect.   USE IT.  

  • Class breaks will be determined after entry deadline has passed and will be posted by 6:00 PM, the Thursday prior to the race at the Shilshole Bay Yacht Club web site. (www. shilsholebayyc.org)  

  • If three or more multi hulls are entered they will have their own class.  

  • 5 Minute starting sequences will be used.

  • Warning signal for the first class will be at 9:55AM with the first start at 10:00 AM.  

  • Scoring will be PHRF Time on Distance.
